Let's make it public for the first time
How to make public project with thight budged for the first time.
Hosting
Idea 1 - GitHub pages
This option allows you to host static pages for free.
However, it comes with major limitations - dynamic functionality and server-side features are unavailable, which greatly restricts what you can build.
Idea 2 - Rent a server
We found an affordable VPS offer, and FoRoKo made the call to go that route.
Even though the server had very limited resources (just 256 MB of RAM), it became a great challenge to optimize the application and make it run efficiently within those constraints. After some tinkering and configuration, we managed to get the application running with all the required dependencies - but it still wasn’t accessible to the outside world.
Not only did we need the VPS, but also a domain: ws-stats.pl.
Since the VPS only provided IPv6 connectivity (to keep costs low) - which not all ISPs, including ours, support - we had to add another layer of translation between IPv4 and IPv6.
We solved this using Cloudflare, linked to our freshly purchased domain.
Thanks to the help of the Polish community, we were able to find and fix most of the bugs we missed during development.
After that, we were finally ready to share version 1 of the site with the whole community!
